Managing Contacts

Contacts are the people in your Session community. The Contacts page lets you view, filter, and manage your existing contacts.

Viewing Your Contacts

Go to Contacts in the admin navigation to see everyone in your list. You'll see:

  • Name and email address
  • Membership status
  • Products they have access to

Adding New Contacts

There are two ways to add contacts to Session:

Option 1: Import CSV

Best for adding multiple contacts at once:

  1. Go to Contacts
  2. Click Import CSV
  3. Upload a CSV file with columns:
    • email (required)
    • first_name (optional)
    • last_name (optional)
  4. Click Import

The import will show how many contacts were added and any that were skipped (already exist).

Option 2: Add via Memberships

Best for granting access to a specific person:

  1. Go to Memberships
  2. Click Add Membership
  3. Enter the person's email
  4. Choose a product and payment type
  5. Click Add Membership

If the email doesn't exist as a contact, it will be created automatically.

Editing Contacts

To update a contact's information:

  1. Find the contact in the list
  2. Click Edit
  3. Update their name or email

    • Payment Type - Paid, free, or comped
    • Search - Find by name or email
  3. Results update automatically

Adding Multiple Filters

Click Add filter to combine criteria with AND/OR logic:

  • AND - Must match all conditions
  • OR - Match any condition

Saving Filters as Segments

If you use the same filter often:

  1. Set up your filter criteria
  2. Click Save as Segment
  3. Name your segment
  4. Access it later from the segment dropdown

Bulk Actions

Select multiple contacts to perform bulk actions:

  1. Check the boxes next to contacts
  2. Click the actions dropdown
  3. Choose an action (e.g., Delete selected)

Exporting Contacts

To export your contact list:

  2. Click Export CSV
  3. Download the CSV file

Deletion is Permanent

Deleting a contact removes them and their membership history. Consider just letting memberships expire instead.
